I have a hen which is 3 months ago and she didnt start laying yet. I was wondering when she will lay eggs? I also have 2 other hens that are 4 months old too. The youngest hen started to peck and bite me when she was in her nesting box I just made. My older hens when I pick them up they start pecking at my jacket and biting the zipper. Can someone tell me what’s going on?

Three months is only 12 weeks(ish). Even four months is pretty early to be looking for eggs, especially as the days are getting shorter.

Have your older hens seen this jacket before? A zipper may be a new thing to them. Chickens peck at/bite things to learn about what they are, and they like to peck at shiny things.

Do you know what breed your girls are? You can expect eggs closer to 5-6 months for many breeds.

Oh the older hens I just got them so I’m not sure. Maybe they think it’s something new?
