Help

I don’t have a lot of advice but I’m really sorry... I’m 16 too and I’m sure that’s very stressful. Have you seen if it is still actually breathing, like a heart beat. I believe there is a way to give a chick CPR.

I found this:
I just want to share a story with a bit of advice fir ducks. A couple of years ago my dad and i went out to his polebarn real late so he could show me his new ducks. When we got out there they were all in the pool and the water was a little deep(big no no), my dad shooed them all out and found one was in the bottom not moving. His beak was gray, he was not breath, and tho he was still limp he looked very lifeless. He was very cold too. Now ive done cpr on humans, but never on a duck. So i had to do a fast search. I came to a page that said 5 quick breaths(not too strong onky enough to watch the chest rise and fall! Its very important not to be too strong) and follow with 10 compressions(fingers only! You dont want to crush them) just enough to watch the chest go in. So i decided to give it a try. My mouth went over the entire beak and stopped just before the breath holes. I started the 5 breaths and watched water spray out of the holes. I started the cpr. Within 10 minutes the bird was breathing. It was very short and shallow, and the bird still could not move. I took it inside and wrapped in a blanket amd continued doing basic first aid. By two hours the duck could lift its head but still not move water was still coming out of the nose and with its best effort it still couldnt quack. So i put it in a box with a towel and called it a night(praying for the best but knowing i needed to sleep). The next morning i woke to quaking. I looked in the box and it was walking around trying to get out and quacking like crazy. So #1 dont let the water be taller than their legs when theyre young. They can get too crowded and get trapped underwater. #2 CPR is very easy on a duck, you just habe to be gentle and always hold the head and body. My dad was going to bury it when he found it. We were positive it was dead. So #4 take that chance! :) happy thursday everyone!!

chicks need heat, water and food. a hot water bottle wrapped in a towel put into a cardboard box might help until you can get proper heating mat or lamp, but it will die without heat (35c) as chicks can't regulate body temperature. they need water (put in small dish) and feed.

try to get some chick starter, but until you do then it can eat cooked scrambled egg which is much better for them than rice and doesn't need grit to digest.
But it hasn't been eating or drinking I'm scared that if I try to give it water it'll go to it's lungs as it can't controll anything. I gave it the tiniest bit of water and I'm scared the water went into it's lungs

It's skin on its stomatch has turned purple and I can see it's veins on its feet now. I think it's dead.

Sweetheart, listen to me.

Even in the BEST of circumstances, baby chicks die. All the time. It is something that we chicken lovers have to suffer knowing when we start to raise or ‘brood’ baby chicks. The baby could have and was likely already too far gone when you found it. The mother likely abandoned it due to congenital (inside organs etc) issues.

I know it’s so difficult to hear and put into place- but PLEASE do not beat yourself up over this. Baby chicks are very fragile beings.

If the baby does not make it- please understand that the baby passed knowing it was LOVED. It passed in warm loving arms. Under the circumstances, you gave it the best peaceful transition that it could ask for.

I know it’s tough. I just about loose my sh*t every time I lose one of my babies, so you are not alone. You are in the right place and we will all be here to guide you in raising it in the best case scenario or comfort you in the worst case.

Sending lots of love to you hunny.

Janine

I'm sad because I had just taught it to kiss and it started kissing me randomly whenever it was on me and it understood when I asked for a kiss. It's hard to let go of love like that.

I know, sweetie. It’s the worst. Very painful.

What is the condition of the baby now? If you try to move his legs very gently and they feel stiff, he or she is likely passed on.
If the baby is still warm and soft, he or she is still alive.
You can try to use a Qtip and dab it in some water, placing the wet qtip to its mouth letting it drip inside.

you can try to drip some sugar water into it’s mouth to perk it up. Keep it in a shoe box with some towels under a lamp overnight to keep it warm and go get chick feed and some good vitamins (it’s called nutridrench) tomorrow.

best of luck. Sending all my love to you and baby.

The chick is dead I only just got the strength to put it out. As much as I wanted it to survive it smelt really bad so I knew it was dead. It wasn't stiff at all and I had hope for it but the smell coming from it's mouth had taken over my room.
