I know this is not my thread, but what to do with a quail who looks like the dead one but is somehow aliveWhat is the temperature in their cage?
How old are they?
What are you feeding them?
How long have they been in a small cage?
Do you see any signs of mites?
Do you have rats/mice? I would cull this poor bird to end its suffering.I know this is not my thread, but what to do with a quail who looks like the dead one but is somehow alive
Here is a picture of the bird.Do you have rats/mice? I would cull this poor bird to end its suffering.
That looks like rat damage to me.Here is a picture of the bird.
Rat damage? In the day? I would have seen signs…. Right? I should say she is kept in the same coop as others, some male, and also 10 or so chickens who are young enough they are the size of the quail. That looks like rat damage to me.
Rats can be quite bold. It might not be a rat, but that's the first thing that comes to mind from the pictures. It's also possible that it was one of the chickens. There are reasons that it is not recommended to keep quail and chickens together.Rat damage? In the day? I would have seen signs…. Right? Not sure if I have pictures of the coop, but yes I know from when I was younger and had a rat for a pet, a rat could probably get in. I just have not seen any signs of rat, no poop, no little toe prints in the fresh mud, no chew marks. I just got (hopefully) all the raccoons off my property, and they never went after the quail coop.Rats can be quite bold. Do you have pictures of their setup? Are there holes big enough for a rat to get through?
