help!

So I got this what we thought was a “baby chick” back in February from the Feed Supply store and they told us he was about 5/6 days old. He’s gotten big and we’ve kept him inside this whole time but my daughter is now sad and upset thinking he won’t live long because she thinks he’s a broiler chicken. Help! We’re new to this and have no idea about breeds or names. We’re just girls who love and care for animals! Can anyone tell us if he is a boy or a girl? And the breed please and thank you. Hello, he's definitely a cockerel. And I'd say he's most likely a Leghorn! A broiler would have much thicker, shorter, and stouter legs. And would have a larger breast.

Also, I'm not sure if he is your only chicken or not, but it sounds like he could be. If so, he would be much happier with some friends.
