Hi everyone, so we are currently awaiting a new chicken coop and have our chickens downstairs in our basement. They are for the most part separated into different brooder situations. (One by herself, two polish’s together, three silkies together and 6 ten week old chicks) then the two who are the focus of this post. The two problem children were out free ranging on Monday acting totally fine. We’re totally fine Monday morning eating and drinking no issues on Tuesday morning. I noticed that one of them was kind of acting abnormal not interested in food and only drinking water as the day went on she continued and continue to not eat, and I noticed that she had some runny stools, almost mucousy. The other that she lives with in her little tent, brooder had been doing totally fine. today. They are both the same. Neither of them are eating. They seem lethargic. I did see them both drink water however, in their little indoor coop, there’s runny stool mucousy stool kind of like gelatinous , stool that looks lightish green. I initially thought one ate something she shouldn’t have. What could this be- also the two sick ones are physically

If you move them into the garage, ensure they have adequate ventilation and light. Garages tend to contain noxious fumes from cleaners, gasoline, etc.
In terms of not eating, you can try to offer them scrambled egg perhaps with some nutri-drench or some wet mash which is feed wet with water.
Pictures of their poop will help the experts help you. (I am not an expert).

That was from yesterday- but this am(no pics) it was like egg whites looking, and some like clear ish/reddish looking gel consistency. And yes I have three windows in my garage so it should be ventilated for them!

Difficult to see in the picture but almost looks like cecal poop with urates. Do you see any blood in the poop? The following link may help:

They did look like normal cecals yesterday- today not so much, they had coccidiosis as babies and I’m wondering if they got a different strain from free ranging? Whatever it is is contagious because they both have it

Definitely keep them separated from all the others. It wouldn't hurt to treat them with Corid, a coccidiostat, which can be purchased at TSC or your local feed store.

Oh yea i have it on hand. They are I. Their own separate pop up tent but do you think I need to move them to a totally

If they are near by chances are they have already been exposed. I would not further stress them by moving them around unless you feel it is warranted. I would keep an eye on the others for any symptoms that appear off.

What are you feeding your flock, including snacks or treats? Do they have oyster shell and grit available 24x7 on the side separate from feed?

Any improvement in the two that are acting off? Do you notice any pus or bubbles from their eyes? Any runny noses? Any labored breathing? Have the poops improved?

The poops seem the same, they are both alert but seem slower than normal. Still no real interest in food I put Corrid in their water. I haven’t noticed any respiratory type symptoms at all right now- I guess the girl who initially got sick was making kind of a honking noise while eating a few days ago. Whatever it is I feel it’s contagious because yesterday one was fine and today it won’t eat

When treating with Corid, you can give undiluted Corid also as a drench 0.1 ml per pound of weight daily.
