So I have 12 baby chickens that are more then ready to go outside the problem I’m having is I have 2 full grown chickens plenty of feed and space for them but not sure how the other 2 will act with them the one chicken that was the head of that pack just died yesterday anyone have any ideas there cramped in there brooder

Do you have a large dog cage you could keep the chicks in
inside the big coop?
Just until the two adult chickens can get used to little ones and see them but can’t get to them yet.

I don’t have a crate big enough to fit all of them unfortunately

We also had 3 in there one was definitely the leader of the pack but she passed yesterday from the heat

And we have one coop that is very small the other is a big one

As long as you have a big enough area so these young ones can run away should they be chased, it should work. We have been doing this and had one of the two hens actually become their mother. Link to that post. I have two feed/water stations and they had lots of places to run to to get away. The rooster doesn't bother them. The one hen that wasn't their "mother" gave them the evil eye and that's all it took. They ran away when she came around them.

How old are the chicks?
Add clutter. Things that the chicks can run under but the adults can't. I used a small chair, a larger chair, a grill grate on an angle, old piece of plywood at an angle, etc. The clutter on an angle, was in the run, so I could wedge it in the ground and it did not slip/fall on the chicks. There is also a fireplace screen against a roost for them to run around.

You can do this in a coop but make sure nothing on an angle can slip/fall.

Thank you everybody for ur help little update we out them all in and they seem to be all doing fine the little ones and the big ones are getting along night time seems to be the only time we may have problems so I moved the 2 big ones to the small coop at night and the little ones in the bigger coop but all seems well
