Help !!

I'm hatching chicks the natural way using mamma hen and the eggs started hatching this morning. From what I can see mamma hen seems to be mushing them then tossing them out of the next. What should I do? I already have 1 dead pancake looking chick.

Try posting this in the chicken behaviors and egg laying section. I'm sure someone there will have some advice. Good luck, it sounds dreadful.

Did you see the hen attack the chick, or did you come by afterwards?

I found it dead when I went to feed this morning. It was still part wet, very flat, and laying outside of the nest. I know another egg is hatching because when she moved I saw it partly open. If this one has the same ending can I try using a heat lamp over the eggs...or would our 95 deg weather be warm enough for them to finish hatching?

Once an egg starts to hatch - how long does it usually take from start to finish?
