We have a chicken that appears to have an egg stuck in it's vent. Any idea on how to deal with this?
I haven't had this problem yet.....sorry I cant help, But if you type egg bound into the search thingy you'll get lots of threads on it!
I am curious, how do you know, do you see the egg? I have a chicken that was laying an egg every other day. 2 weeks ago she decided to sit in one corner. I thought she was sitting on an egg. I found out there is nothing there. She is in the corner where she usually lays. WHAT is going on?!
Warm water bath first to get her muscles to relax and see if you can gently push it out for her.
But, I have no experience with this, so hopefully someone who does will help out too.
Quote:Sounds like she's broody.
I am new to this, what does broody mean actually. Is it healthy for her to not lay eggs? Will she eventually? If she wants to be a momma, I am ok with that, but where are the eggs?
Quote:Sent you a PM.
Quote:This is what i would do. That egg needs to come out asap, and warm water baths are the best thing i have ever read for it.
Sounds more broody than egg bound.
