We "rescued" two free pigeons at our local chicken swap, and they have been living with our chickens for a month or so. Well, I was gone with family this week, and I had someone looking after my critters. They told me tonight that they were worried about one of the pigeons . "It just sits in the chicken nest box all day, I think its cold." they said. I did not beleve them. The grey one was never cold, it was alway the feather-footed fancy one that did. I went to check it out. Well, under her were three tiny eggs.

Its about zero at night, will she and the eggs be fine? Im not sure if the other is a male, will she still lay and sit if the other is a female, like chickens? Will they take turns on the eggs, or what?

She is in a bantum nest box, much bigger than she needs, I just not sure what to do.

She and the eggs will be fine - other than the fact that you have two hens and they will not hatch either way

They will take turn incubating the eggs and everything else just like a normal pair.

How can you tell they are girls? I know my little fancy one likes showing off to the bantum hens, I would have guessed it was a he. The grey one thats on the nest has never done anything other than fly away from me and hide.

Pigeons Lay Only Two Eggs Per Clutch . Two Males Or Two Females Will Mate Up Sometimes When There Is No Oppsite Sex. Do You Have Pics Of The Bird You Said Is Srutting And Showing Off Thinking It Might Be A Pouter .
