when i cleaned some of my quail the other day i noticed that one of the birds had a green colerd spot on the meat. and it kinda had a little hole by the green spot. the bird acted and looked healthy on the outside and inside. (other than the spot.) it was meaty and well grown. is it safe to eat.. or what is it.

I don't have an answer for you but I had the same thing happen with one of my roosters. I cut the piece out and they tasted fine. Hopefully somebody can enlighten us

Sounds like you busted the little bile gland on the liver.

When I gutted mine I pulled out the bile gland intact. The green spot was nestled against the thigh, like a little cancer or something.

Just wondering if any of the quail peeps know anything about this? I'm curious, too.....

Sounds like it had a wound on its leg that was infected. I would think it's okay to eat but you might want to remove the discolored area.

thank yall so much.. i figured it was ok.. and by the way the spot was on the brest.. right by the breast plate. but it sounds like its ok to eat.. ill keep the next one like that. thanks again
