Recently I acquired 2 chickens. Yesterday I noticed that one of the chickens has a swollen vent (almost like hemorrhoid). What should I do? Thanks

I would post some pictures, just getting a visual can be really helpful (I think you might have to have 10 forum replies to post pics).

In the meantime, here are some questions for you: Is this chicken a hen? Is she laying? Is there a white discharge as well? Does she limp or stumble? Is her belly soft or hard?

Thanks for the reply. What I have is a hen that lays gigantic eggs. This is my first go at chickens, so I tried to re-insert the prolapsed area and applied preparation H. She is not lethargic and is eating and drinking, I am hoping that she will recover.
