My duck Ferb was attacked by my dog. I don't know what happend they are best friends. I went outside to let my dogs inside and Ferb was in my dogs mouth. Ferb is not very bloody and I don't see any puncture marks. He's not walking. I put him in a warm bath and he is drinking water nonstop. I don't know what else to do. There is no vets around here that will treat a duck. And something white and spiral like is coming out of his vent.

Do you have a large dog crate? I'd place him in there and put him in a quiet room where he can have some quiet time, give him plenty of fresh water and feed even if he may not want to eat it right now, and do you have any poultry vitamins? electrolytes to add to his water? The the white spiral stuff I'm not sure unless it's just poo coming out, but most likely he is in shock and will be for a while. keep him calm and warm and out of house traffic. but make sure you check him close to the skin all over just in case you miss something. also after he has had a little time to recoup ,maybe by days end you might want to put him ointo a warm bath and see how he reacts. that is a good place to really observe how they are doing, so sorry this happened.

He is deffinately in shock, the white spiral thing is his umm manly parts. Unless internally injured he should be ok with rest and quiet. Sounds like a game of chase gone bad, thats usually what happens

I wasn't thinking manly part when she said white I would have thought fleshly. oh well. But agree .

Right now I put him in a large Rubbermaid container that he sleeps in at night. Is it ok I gave him sugar water to help with the shock. I checked him all over and his leg seems fine but he is not using it so I'm guessing its badly bruised or sprained. He also has a bald raw spot in the middle of his back that I put antibiotic ointment on. Is there anything else I should be doing. I have to leave him alone this afternoon and I'm really worried about it.

LOL normally I wouldn't have either but I have 1 gander outta 6 and a couple of drakes that I think people would describe as white in that area, Lol

Miss Lydia will have to help you on the sugar water thing. I tend to give gatoraid (which has sugar in it, soooo)
He just needs time, give him food and water and make SURE he can't be disturbed while you are gone, I betcha he will be better when you get back! good luck

I'm not much into giving sugar to anyone especially my animals, but if it's suppose to help? I keep electrolytes on hand for times like this, and Poultry Nutri Drench.

Hope when you get back you see big improvement, and don't forget about a warm soak tonight with supervision. if he has an injury to his leg soaking in warm water will help.
