A few hrs ago I assisted a stuck chick. He had pipped but the membrane had dried and stuck to him. Very little noise compared to early this morning. I decided to assist and ended up having to remove most of the shell to get to his head which was under a leg! His tiny little beak only just poking out.

On coming home he looks dead. But on close inspection there is the odd twitch or flick of eye lid. He looks to have not quite absorbed the yolk. Very nearly all gone but not quite. I've wrapped him in a warm damp wash cloth and left him in bator. Is this the right thing to do?

Yes, as long as he can breathe and doesn't dry out before absorbing the yolk it's fine. Good luck with him!

i hope your little one pulls through. i assisted one last night and this morning and she is really looking good now. if yours is breathing then waiting a few hours in the shell wrapped in a damp cloth is a good thing.

He's not looking great at all I think he's dead! Poor wee thing. Did I help too soon? The membrane was really dry so was afraid to lose him like one of the others.

Def dead. I'm really disappointed. He was one of 2 silkies which made it to term. Now I have a little loner! I think I'll need to buy more online so I've not just got one silkie. I'm thoroughly saddened now :(

I'm so sorry
