I recently bought a seemingly healthy trio of oeg bantams, 2 days after i get them home, both pullets are coughing and their eyes are swollen shut and bubbly, one keeps stretching her neck out and shaking her head. The roo seems to be fine and has been separated.these are in a coop above ground. I have 40 three week old chicks in a separate coop(also above ground) about 20 feet away. They have never been in contact with the bantams. First what's wrong with them and second are my little ones safe from being infected.
Thanks

It sounds like a respiratory infection. Continue giving the VetRX, but try to get some antibiotics. If you can't get Tylan, get some oxytetracycline. Oxytetracycline is usually easy to find, and, though not as strong as Tylan, can still work. Some names for oxytetracycline are Duramycin, Terramycin, and Tetroxy HCA-280. Oxytetracycline is put into the water, so you won't have to do any injections, but it might not work is your birds aren't drinking enough.

Until you get antibiotics (if you get antibiotics), give electrolytes and probiotics, and keep the birds warm. Make sure that they stay hydrated and well fed. When using antibiotics, remember to stop giving probiotics, as they interfere with the job of antibiotics.

Hope I've helped!
