I have a B.O egg going into lockdown tomorrow. I didn't think it was alive so I opened it - but just at the air sac so the membranes and veins are all intact. But before I put the baby back in the incubator I noticed that it is half the size it should be and it looks like the yolk is scrambled (thus the size issue) but it is still alive.

ANYONE have any advise (besides culling) to give this baby a fighting chance?

ANYONE ever been in this situation?

How do you know it is still alive? If it is still alive, despite its small size, it may still hatch. It is likely, though, that it has some sort of genetic problem and didn't form properly.

I opened the air sac because I thought it wasn't alive. Its moving and is alive. It just seems like the yolk is 3x this baby's size. I don't think its a genetic problem I think its a scrambled yolk problem not allowing the chick enough nutrition to grow as fast as a normal chick.
