Hard to say, it was pretty dark while I was a huntin', but my motto is if it slithers, it dies(unless it's a Spotted King Snake or a garter snake(I let the chickens have those).
Probably a young rat or hog nose-now it's in pieces. I'm so mean!

We had a big ol chicken snake in the coop last spring and my husband wanted to shoot it IN the coop. I was laughing so hard at him trying to kill that thing in the coop I almost wet my pants.
We have LOTS of snakes around here. I can't abide the nasty things so they have to go.
ughhhh rattle snakes scare the heck outta me! Out neighbor came and informed us he ran a 3 ft one over in the road down the street and last year our other neighbor at the end of the street said he killed a 4 ft one that killed two of his dogs...... got to love central tx.... we keep our grass VERY short around the house! I worry about the pond more than around our yard. Cotton mouths scare me more than rattle snakes. Thats why hubby wants the geese bc they are great snake killers. ehhh now i'm all looking around the bed for snakes lol
