I know this much=whatever they are, they sure are adorable little things and man do they enjoy the mud.

Just did some reading and it sounds like snowy calls and mini silver appleyards are the same color. Large silver appleyards and silver appleyard calls are both the same color but a different color from the minis and snowy calls. This is too confusing, lol

It'll be fun-they are currently mystery ducks. I had some of those 2 hatches ago.

Whatever they are we love them

Note to self: No matter how much you want a breed of bird DO NOT buy it out of the straight run bin at TSC. It is filled with all of the cockerals that are left over after people get their sexed pullets

There is a lot of comb going on in the speckled sussex cage

Oh great, that sounds like my luck. Oh well, at least they're large enough to eat if you are so inclined.

If nothing gets to them before I do they will be going into my soup pot in a few months. After having tasted home grown rooster I just don't like the store bought chicken any more. It is just blah.

Well, hopefully some of them are pullets(I like to think positively).

It's nice to know that what you are eating was healthy and lived a good life while it was in your care.

I don't mind nasty teenage roosters but we don't process our hens and no one better even think about coming near any of my ducks, lol Now my neighbor up the road has some pekin ducks and I can see why people eat those.

What does everyone do with all the extra call drakes?

Yeah, we don't eat our girls, either. Just the roosters with the bad attitudes. My layer girls will retire here until they pass.
I agree-ducks are not food.

Ummm...I keep mine in a large bachelor pen because I fall in love with EVERY one of them. The Calls make such wonderful pets that I keep my extra boys as pets that I can pick up and carry around and just in general aggravate the poor things. I call them the "Gossip Boys" because they all come up around my feet as soon as I walk in the pen like they are trying to tell on one another and be the first to tattle.

Whe I had 4 boys 3 of them picked on the 4th badly but they had girls with them too. The one that got picked on was the largest of the bunch and was their leader until the other boys revolted. How many boys do you have in there?
