Hi all,
today I rearranged the spring teeth on the tool bar on the tractor and "chisel plowed" the garden.. It started sprinkling just as I finished with the teeth, but I figured I could get it all dragged before it got too muddy.
I was right..I did..
then we went to Marathon Feed and bought a bushel of winter rye seed. only $14.oo.
tomorrow I will sow it by hand, come rain or shine..
and that's all I accomplished today..
Art, how is the cement work coming along ?

No, he's mine all mine!! :D ....and it's hard to get him out here.
No chair sitting, still stuff to clear up.
Big thing today is repairing a concrete hemisphere I cracked with the mower deck this year. I had carefully stored the pieces in the wheel barrow and now need to either toss it or fix it cause I need the wheel barrow. So dug out the rolling 'big sphere' table, some tools, and materials.(this *might* prompt me to clear out some more of the detritus in the concrete studio) Mixed up a test batch of cement to see if it's still viable....could be fun!

Looks like a dinosaur egg ready to hatch!

If you need a good cardiac exercise, walk and sow 50 pounds of rye seed by hand.
I just got finished doing that.
then I mowed the small garden and
"chisel plowed" it. might not use it next year, but at least the weeds are down..
then I mowed all the way around the green house and under the honeysuckle bushes.
pushed the blackberries back from all the paths down to the garden, too.. I am all cut up and bleeding, but it really looks nice down there..

Great job! I took 2 wagon loads of bunny poo out of the barn, planted a rose bush and a day lilly. Fertilized the flowers out front. Fed , watered, gave the quail sand, and soldier fly larvae. Planning to work in the WS tonight. I did put the divider in the quail duplex i have been neglecting while building the chicken coop. I need to get more welded wire before i can finish the run.

Will get some cardio when I go to get woods chips friday,
saving my 'mobility budget' for that.
I did rig up the back of van, couple pieces of plywood and tarp, to work as a pick up truck.

Patching compound had was no good, went and got some more which seems to be OK(test batch still setting).
Cut 'scratch' grooves in concrete pieces to be patched, had a hell of a time with angle grinder, the lock for changing discs doesn't work well<grrr>

nice to see everybody being busy..
keeps you off the streets..
art, my 4" angle grinder was like that from day one.. have to fiddle with it to make the lock engage..
sounds like you are going to pick up loose shavings?? I used to do that. when the kids were little I would pretend it was fun and then they were conned into helping..

Trees trimmed and chipped by power company over the summer,
friend had them dump some on their land.

I had trimming going on around here too, and the guy told me several times they would dump some, even came and OK'd the place I wanted them, they never brought and he quit returning my calls. Seemed like really nice guy...wooed and screwed once again.

that's the way they operate. what they do is deliver it to the nearest place when they are done with a load or done for the day.
I have been lucky through the years.
I have a big grassy spot where I have them dump. I guess not many people around me request the chips.. I take all they are willing to bring, because it is sometimes a few years between trimmings ..
my pile is about 30 cu yards. a couple of years old and pretty well decomposed ..
I turn it over occasionally with the tractor and loader to get the outer chips buried. otherwise they just get dry and don't decompose..
lately I used some to fill in holes where I yanked a tree or two out of the ground. I have a couple of deep divots in the lawn where my border collie dug holes . he has been dead for about 10 years, so you get some idea of how fast I work..LOL

Yeah, signed up for that. Nothing happened. I am too far out in the sticks. See if you have a cabinet making business you can get shavings from.
