I concur , bumblefoot is not caused by perching too high..
did you ever consider that the infection was spread from one bird to another on that particular roost ??

Cappy, you are going to have to make your fence around your property higher and stronger.. Not to keep her in, but to keep every boy in the county out ..

minus -22F this morning. still no snow.
I have ice in my septic system. covered the manhole with a tarp and have an electric heater going..
Yesterday my right knee buckled. I couldn't get up or down, just stuck at the top step into the sunporch.. Annie had to come and lift me.. First time that ever happened.. hurt like H**L..

Yikes! What part of system, the tank?

Dog slipped and ran into my bad knee yesterday, luckily no lasting effects....if we both go done it's gonna be over.
I hope your knee is OK Jim....tread carefully.

My knee doesn't hurt today.
lately if I even squat, I cannot stand back up.
knees are weak and hurt when I try.
being about 60 pounds overweight is not helpful, either..
In the manhole on the septic tank is where the ice formed.
If I can't get it to thaw, I am thinking of getting my brother to bring his ice auger and drill a hole through it. then we can knock the ice loose around the edge. I don't know how thick the ice is.
If we can get a hole through the ice, I can lower a sinking stock tank heater in to keep things thawing until this cold snap is over..
there is a lift pump in the ice. I imagine the float switch is frozen so it can't turn on. I have a new pump ready to go in as soon as we get a hole bored..
Yesterday Annie said , next summer we are going to build an insulated box around that manhole. I told her, good, and I will help you

I used to work in a squat for hours at a time. Now I have no idea the last time squatted and then stood up without gripping something (or someone) as if my life depended on it. Kneeling is right out, which is kinda nice 'cuz if something rolls too far under my desk I can plead Old Age and someone else will fish it out for me.
:old

Good luck with the septic tank jvls, those things scare me. My parents lived in fear of theirs.

I can get down on one knee, not for long and hard to get up.
Most ground level chores get done like this :

This! I think I'll get one of those and glue it to my backside. Can't get much more meta than that.

I think we've decided to buy the land even if the state won't let us mess with the area near the stream. There's still a lot of land we can build on and we were going to leave the woodsy area woodsy anyway.

I have a nice grabber for picking up things from the ground. I ride on the lawn mower and pick up one end of a stick with it. then grab it with my other hand and make a pile in my lap , then haul it to the brush pile..
I am so bad, I don't even "get down" to good music anymore.. :lau:old
