up at 5AM today.
have to try to get the nut off of one of the mower blades. Impact wrench isn't doing it.
Can we say, breaker bar with a cheater handle, boys and girls ??
this mower is still new. less than 40 hours on it.. the blades (both) do not spin freely.
I suspect the factory grease job on the bearings leaves something to be desired.
I don't want to take the spindles apart, but if I don't the bearings will fail, and then I will be replacing maybe the whole spindle assembly..
it has a 3 year warranty, but I don't feel like waiting a month to get my mower back..

Good thing you know what to do!

Welp, it turns out the supply pipe from the meter to the house was not only ancient (knew that part) but thinner and more fragile than an eggshell. Going to take specialty equipment (money), inspections, (time) plumbers (more money) and a trench (mess).

Good news is we have water again (nice plumber ran one of our garden hoses from the meter to the laundry tub) so no more scrounging around the yard to find a bucket of rainwater for flushing. And we can add the invoices to the box of recent improvements done to the house. Bad news is the cost. Good news is we got rid of the super heavy exer-cycle that broke the pipe to begin with. One of the plumbers wanted it so now it's safely out of the basement. Bad news is the cost.

Truly could have been worse, I shudder to think what would have happened if the pipe had popped on it's own when we weren't here. Can't really complain too much.

too bad you won't be staying there to enjoy the new water pipes..
I still can't get the second blade off the mower.
a block of wood 2x4 is not enough to hole it.
tomorrow I am going fix up a real elaborate clamp . It will hold, gauranteed. and then if my 3 foot bicept enhancer doesn't fo the job, i will bring out the 5 footer..
SOMETHING is going to give,,
I found some #8 hardened bolts today.
I will put a nut on, then I will back that nut with a locking nut..
My nephew stopped in for a minute last night. He said that he could have made me the part we went searching for.. He is the shop teacher at one of the high schools in wausau.. NOW he tells me.. LOL

Have him make you one as well. With two on hand it guarantees you'll never need one again. Maybe you could rent them out as insurance for other folks. :)

Good idea about the parts.
Maybe I could make up little packets of random parts and bolts and sell them..

I got the blades sharpened, not real well, and back onto the deck.
tomorrow if it is not raining too hard I will put the deck back onto
the tractor.

it quit raining before 10 AM.
right after noon I had GS come help me put the deck on.. I resharpened the blades to my satisfaction and added locking nuts as jam nuts on the idler pulleys..
I mowed the front yard, just because I could..
this is the first year in forever that I got that mowed before it became a hay field.
scratch one item off of my bucket list..

I got a bit more mowed this morning,
It was nice and cool.
I mowed as high as i could for this first time.
I mowed only where there were no fallen limbs.
for this weekend, there won't be any outside work being done.. rain rain rain..
today I am trying to fix the pressure adjustment on my big compressor. can't find replacement parts, so I will have to jury rig something up.. If I can get a constant 90 psi I will be content.. but I will have no adjustment higher or lower psi.
