If that roof is not steep enough to keep them off, add a layer of linoleum ..
I hope they use it the nest.
I checked out steel roofing for extending the roof line across the south side of the house. I can do it for less than $50... material. I can do the labor . only 14 pieces to put up.
all of the snow still has not slid off of the house roof. I can't believe it.
.maybe the rain we have been promised will loosen it up..

I am done building the nest, and I built a frame for the window in the back. One more to go, and need to frame glass to cover the windows when it's cold.

ood shavings and straw are both great beddings for chicken coops and I personally love the smell of clean shavings in a warm coop, but when used as a flooring in an uncovered run, wood shavings and straw can become soggy and work into the ground fairly quickly making the run difficult to clean

I've found that sugar cane much works well on the ground in the run. Rainwater goes through and it doesn't end up slippery like straw. It also lasts a few weeks.

good day,
I slept from midnight to 5:3oAM in one chunk.
didn't wake up at all . first time in a long time.
Our temperature is about 29F at night and 35F to 40F daytime.
today it is supposed to snow and then turn to rain as the temp rises..
this corona virus is shutting everything down around here.
Yesterday we were at our favorite restaurant when a cop came in and informed the owner that he had to close the doors to customers at 5PM and keep them closed until further notice. All of the restaurants can only do pick orders or deliveries..
all schools are closed and the churches are not having services.
only gatherings of 9 people or less are allowed.
looks like we will be doing a lot of our own cooking for awhile..
Annie made corned beef and cabbage. only she used some smoked turkey for the meat.
It is really tasty..
