Aart, we call them pole barn screws.
to look them up at Menard's, we have to identify them as 6'' hex head screws..
they are black, and clear shank except for about two inches of thread at the tip.

I used them to hold the bird mouth rafter cut to the top plate when I built my lean to.
Instead of toe nailing spikes at the bird mouth..
in this application, I am going to hit the sill plate of the second story wall . plus one screw hitting the header over the garage door. plus one screw in each of the angles of the truss.
I have a box of 50 , I will use most of them up..

Boots, the luck part was getting shipped eggs to hatch. good preparation was the icing on the cake. as we say in our extended family,,,,"atta boy"..

Thanks Jim :hugs

And that last hold out hatched late last night and DP put it under the mama plate with the rest of the chicks. These chicks are so trusting, it's so sweet when they just climb into your hand. My 3 week olds will come to me and I can coax them down the ramp from the hen house into the run now. It was too rainy and cold yesterday but it's lovely now so out they went. I need to get the dog kennel out and put into the coop so we can start integrating them.

Hubby has been building these...

Instructions
FILLING

7 oz (200g) bacon, minced or finely chopped
2 cloves garlic minced
1 small onion, finely chopped
1 small carrot, finely shredded/grated
1 stalk celery, finely chopped
1 teaspoon ground fennel seeds
8 oz (250g) ground pork mince
8 oz (250g) ground beef mince
1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
1 large egg
2 tablespoons barbecue sauce
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
3/4 teaspoon salt
Cracked black pepper
2 1/2 sheets frozen puff pastry, thawed
1 large egg, lightly beaten

1. Fry bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat for 2-3 minutes until just starting to crisp and bacon
releases grease. Add onion, celery and carrot to the pan, sauté for 2 minutes or until veggies have
softened. Sauté the garlic until fragrant (about 30 seconds).
Transfer to bowl and let mixture cool for 10 minutes.
2. Add remaining FILLING ingredients to the bowl and mix well using your hands.

1. Lightly flour a work bench. Cut one pastry sheet in half and lay one half down in front of you.
2. Spoon 1/5th of the filling down the middle of the sheet and press/shape into a compact log.
3. Brush edge of pastry with egg then roll up. Lightly press/seal on the edge with egg wash and arrange
seam-side down.

1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Line 2 baking sheets with parchment paper, or lightly grease with
nonstick cooking oil spray.
2. Slice each log into four equal pieces for party-sized sausage rolls, or two pieces for long full-sized
sausage rolls. Brush the tops with egg wash.
3. Arrange rolls on baking sheets and bake for 30-35 minutes, rotating baking sheets around halfway
through cook time to ensure they bake evenly. The pastry should be crispy and golden brown.
4. Let cool to the touch. Serve hot (or warm) with ketchup/tomato sauce.

I dipped mine in bbq sauce and they were so delicious! Once we can socialize again I'll make them for Aggravation nite.
I've copied this to try.

Sounds yum! :drool

good pre-rain Monday morning,
My raised beds will be the unused picnic table..
While stealing buckets of compost from DD's supply, I noticed that she cleaned out the green house. They were going to use it to dry hemp. but decided not to.
I just might locate my container tomatoes and peppers in there instead of on the picnic table.
there is room to plant my beans in there, too.
today I will work on assembling more trusses. the rain won't bother me, in the shop.

Aart, how are those delivered lunches ? Do you get a menu or is it like home cooking? Eat it and shut up...
Annie mentioned ordering delivered lunches.. I like to do my own cooking, or make her do it. LOL
the rain is due to start any minute, now.
still in the 40F's..
the broody sounds like she is doing a good job..
Usually if they have a bad egg, they will roll it out of the nest.. I think they can tell that it is not retaining heat..

Aart, how are those delivered lunches ?
They.are.excellent!
Made by a local restaurant with lots of fresh ingredients.
Sammich, bag of chips, salad(fruit or pasta or coleslaw), cookie.
Granted processed meats on them, but real cheese, tomato, and lettuce on good breads.
Last week was a fresh greens salad with chicken breast and hard boiled eggs.
They have a good cold plate with tuna salad, but I hate tuna and so am on the 'no tuna' list.
Definitely not 'institutional' food, frozen or out of cans and such.
