It's ringing a bell.....nice roof overhangs, are those shingles supported where they go over edge of roof?
What happened to this coop?

The one wall was OSB due to a construction error that wasted part of the T1-11 and it's rotted despite being painted (the coop has seen 6-8 years of steamy, southeastern weather). Also, while the shingles are fine, the tarpaper under them gave up and the OSB roof sheathing is rotting and the skids should probably be replaced as well (It's not a mobile tractor, but was intended to be portable because we knew we were going to make this move eventually.

So it will get a new roof with slightly wider overhangs, a new nestbox with a drop down front instead of a lift-up roof, and metal roofing over the wood because we have some metal from a shed. We might add even more ventilation by stopping the wall sheathing a couple inches below the roof overhang and putting hardware cloth there.

I want to drop the nestboxes lower because I intend to use it as a broody hutch once I've got the new flock established. DH promised me that as soon as we've got the shed conversion cabin we're camping in finished he'll make the repairs, build a new run, and budget for me to try to find chicks or pullets in the time of COVID panic.

I put 9" ribbed steel on all of my buildings. even the house when the asphalt shingles got whumpy ..
when I get off of a roof, I never plan on going back up there.
On the awning roof I just built, the recommendation was to leave the metal 4 inches beyond the fascia. I left 6 ". The roof is so small and steep that I am not worried about too much overhang. the sheets are 4'
today I did not have coffee outside , again.
kind of chilly and still damp from all the rain we had. but the next few days are going to be rain free.. and cool.. my kind of weather.
might even get the garden planted.
corn and beans.

Same here, it feels wonderful!!
Got lots planned, wonders how much will get done. :gig
Definitely going to change out the coop shavings. Mama has chicks roosting so I can remove the floor nest. Need to do some cooking, including bread, while it's cool.

North Carolina? You might be near me, Chatham VA.

Well, it's about 84° and so humid I had to do the breast stroke to get up to the barn today. Should have taken an oxygen tank.
I was bent over fixing up a spot for an injured chick and messed up a disc I think. So applying heat. Guess I didn't want to go outside any way.
Got 30 pullet chicks yesterday! :gig
