It is a beautiful sunny day, supposed to get up to 60. A great day to work on finishing a coop before winter hits. Now to drag myself out of bed and get some pills in my system!

Cold wet and windy here today....brrrr.
Furnace running full time now.
My second Marans started laying today!!
6 out of 7 pullets laying now.
Not as dark as I'd hoped but still.....

I got another tarp on the coop, this one on the end where the roofing is not long enough. Always best to start at the bottom and work your way up so water drains out instead of in.
Got the boards cut to attach to the end walls so it will be easier to attach the wire in the vent area at the top.

all I got done today was to drag out another oak board. 8 feet long and 11 inches wide.
planed it and found that it came from a rotten part of the tree. be lucky to get furring strips out of it.
I know there are solid boards in that pile. why do I keep pulling out these duds ?
it finally got up to the low 40's today way after noon.
I bought fresh glue and some trim screws. I couldn't find any other 1 1/2" screws. Oh, I could have gotten some
#7 1 1/2" screws, but there is no holding power in those fine threads.

Depends on how you drill your pilot holes, and what your screwing together. ;)

pilot hole or not, depends on how much you want to tighten them.
I like to make the heads just below flush. the threads strip out very often before this can be accomplished.
I am not about to countersink heads.
