Helpful hints for building coops

Hubby built a snow man and asked me to decorate it. By the time i fed the chickens, the snow man was on the ground and his head was busted! So i did reconstructive surgery but he is still in critical condition. His prognosis is poor, we are at 51F right now.

Maybe your hubby did the following,
but just in case....
make sure the saw blade is dead parallel to the miter guage slot. then make the fence dead parallel to the slot as well.
this will save you a lot of frustration and burnt wood from the saw blade.

now the fun begins, you just gotta make a sled or two.
lots of tutorials on You Tube.
I even make circle cuts off of one of my sleds. also on You Tube..

a sled eliminates the miter gauge on the saw.
It has a rail that slides in the miter gauge slot.
it is made out of a piece of plywood with a fence on front and back.
with it you can actually joint pieces of board..
very handy for making repeated cuts. I have three of them.
a friend of mine made one to cut 45 degree angles for picture frames.
again, You Tube is your friend here.
a nice feature of them is that they have a zero clearance saw slot...

Basically it's just a bigger and better 'miter gauge'.
Might work good for you as I don't see and table extensions.

very good point Art,.

You don't have to make the sled huge like on some of the You Tubes.
customize it to fit your needs.
I have one with just one slide in just one of the miter grooves.
One of the things they don't point out too well is that the saw blade does protrude where your hands are pushing. do not get your hands in line with the saw blade at any time.
I am going to add a thick block of wood where the blade comes through. then there won't be any blade exposed..

I made the double runner out of 1/2" plywood. It is not very stable.
kind of whumpy and does not sit flat on the saw table. depending on the humidity.

took some pictures of the 4 week old pups today.
one of them taught herself how to climb the stairs.
.

made it!! now she explored the living room.
later on she went back down.
it wasn't too graceful, but hey, it was only her first time..

Not many things make me go: Squeeee....Awwwww!!!
But puppies do!
Wish I could touch them, but also don't want to raise any.
The best puppies are ones who live with someone else,
and you just get to visit....same goes for cats.
