Good steel(or whatever the best metal is) is worth paying for.

right you are.. some of the reviews stated that the chisels broke, or shafts bent and the blades came out of the handles.. most of the stuff on Amazon is Japanese made.. not all bad, but their metal work is not top notch ..

good morning,
my MT 1's came yesterday.
only problem, they are too long to fit into my tail stock.. I will measure the taper with a callipers and if it seems OK, I will shorten one..
another good excuse to not buy a Ryobi and hold out for a good Craftsman..
I am shopping, believe you me..

I got the other half of the lean-to roof made. 20180327_152012.jpg

good wednesday,
I tore the sanding table down to bare bones.
waiting for bearings to show up.
I am going on a 200 mile round trip on friday to pick up a Craftsman 36" lathe. complete with a set of chisels and some spare parts.. $150.oo

I figured out that all I have to do with the new tapered adapters is to shorten the one that goes into the tail stock..
the one for the head stock is OK as is..

a lady is supposed to be coming to get the pair of geese today..

ETA:
goose lady did not call or show up.. surprised ? who me ??
got up to 51F and sunny today.
I set up shop on the tail gate of the pick up.
mounted the drill chuck into the headstock on the lathe and chucked the half inch shaft. then I turned the lathe on and filed and sanded the shaft until it was all clean and shiny. fit the new bearings onto it ..

it looks like the pup is waiting for help to lift the roof up into place..
don't hurt yourself lifting it..
I built my roof piece by piece in place.
where are the kids when you need them ??

the goose lady called this morning.
she's "sending someone" at 2:oo PM.
anyone want to get in this pool ?

I got the tin for the roof and forgot concrete! Ugh. Misplaced my list. Probably forget my head if not screwed on. I did buy screws though! Two pear trees as well. And i had fun shopping so that counts for something!

sib conscience ly you didn't want to do concrete work anyway..

I never have fun shopping.. I plan on what I want before heading to the store , get it and get out..

kind of quiet outside this morning. NO geese.. I am going to miss the gander a little for maybe a day or two..

Now I can give the big chicken coop a good cleaning and put some sawdust creating tools in there. ie. lathe, jointer , sander..
will never have to sweep the floor.

sticking to my plan, no garden this year.
the more I think of it, the better I like the idea..

It took a crazy long amount of time to get these little supports up on the side of the barn. Mainly because i had to put wood on the inside to screw the outside wood to. Which entails moving all those bunny cages... 20180330_180034.jpg
