Helpful hints for building coops

I know, btdt.. we replaced all the water lines in the laundry room. all that is left are the two long feeder lines to the opposite end of the house..two runs of about 30 feet of PEX will do it.

well, the acid water we have ate another pin hole in one of the copper pipes. The plumber can't get here until next week. We mutually decided to take that 30 foot line out and replace it with PEC. I already have a 100 ft
roll of it and the connectors, too. I turned the pump off. We have some pipe tape to wrap around the pipe. It will either stop the leak or at least slow it down for now.
we will have to rip a row of ceiling tiles out all across the basement. about 30 feet of them...
the fun never stops around here..

I'm very fond of the Belgians. Ales generally. Don't have the palette to appreciate most Pils, and absolutely despise the American trend of over-hopping everything. I want balance in my beers, and those Trappist monks? They had a lot of time to perfect their art.

Just made my first beer in decades - English Brown Ale from a kit (living in an RV while building the house, limited ability to do otherwise). First bottle was a little "meh" and somewhat over-hopped. Have a few more gallons of the stuff waiting for carbonation, currently being held under refrigeration. Will likely make a gallon of unhopped fresh adjunct, mix, and secondary ferment to get the character I want. Less hops, more alcohol, a bit more body. Haven't settled on the sugars I'm going to use yet, but its going to require at least a bit of maltose. I may cheat and use a jar of Lyle's Golden Syrup. Of course, at that point, its not beer any more, and I'd not describe it that way, but it is a tasty malt beverage.

And when you attempt to cut and repair a section that's eaten down to foil you'll crush it and make even more leaks. That was the hardest part with that plumbing -- finding a piece of sound pipe to attach the new pipe to.

I have often said that I don't like beer, except now and then someone will give me a dark beer that I'm good with. When people started the even worst trend of putting hops in cider I realized that it isn't beer per se that I dislike but hops.
 
after two years in Germany, I came back to the USA.
all the beers seemed like drinking water , to me.
In Germany, beer is served at room temperature .
You can actually taste it. American beer is served ice cold. The taste buds are frozen . many American beers are artificially carbonated.
In Germany, it is illegal to add anything to beer.
only hops, malt water and yeast are allowed.
I am attempting to brew something as close to Grolsch as I can. I did it once by accident. did not write down the recipe..

what would make a goat go temporarily blind?
I remember when I was a kid, sometimes a
horse would go "Moon blind". the farmers
would apply honey to the eye ball.
I don't know if it did any good,,,or bad.?
I took Sunday off. Watched way too much
football. This week I have to get busy and
clean wine bottles.. bottling day is fast approaching ..

Pink eye can cause temporarily blindness and it looks terrible. Eye balls turn red. Also vitamin deficiency. I think this little one was getting pushed out of the way when I feed calf manna so she missed her share.
 
Yesterday I was trying to move one of the old quail pens and managed to break off 2 legs. I did replace the legs and I think I will get hubby to help me finish moving it to its final destination. Fixing it up for the chickens.
Trying to get ready for Xmas, and it's almost here already! Not enough time in the day.
