It's crazy the low temps in more southern states.

I know it's been this cold at some point in the 16 years we've lived here -- I've even seen 0F a few times. But never in December and not for enough years that I can't remember when it last occurred.

I'm getting ready to go to work and trying to figure out what I have in the way of coats. I don't own anything I'd have recognized as an actual winter coat when I lived up north.

Aart, I hope your snow thrower can handle all
this snow. Don't over do it.
Our total on the ground is about 16".
I would hate to see another 16".
Yeah, it is typical for Wisc to have cold temps.
But it usually holds off until into January.
I have seen it go for two weeks and never get above zero.
Is this global warming ??
My brother goes ice fishing. He is not driving his car out
onto the ice , yet. it takes more than eight inches of ice
for that. if this keeps up, the ice will probably get to 30"
before too long..
On a lake just north of us, they have stock car races .

First I have to shovel out to the coop, then clear part of the run.
The thrower should work if the snow is dry enough.
We got a about a foot and coupe weeks ago, thrower kept clogging bad.
Had to hire a plower, but he was good and had a nice split plow rig.

Yeah, I plowed the first round with Ollie. it was
14F and sunny. I can handle that. since that time
we have picked up about six inches . we had no
place to go, so I did not plow.
Today Bob is coming with his truck and plowing
us out. the worst is out by the end of the driveway
where the township plowed us in.

@aart, sounds like you didn't lose power?! They said on the news that there was an outage down your way. Lasted a few hours. I am VERY thankful that we haven't lost power, and that the number of people without hasn't been "the lead" on the local news.

DH plowed our drive (1/4 mile) yesterday. I was amazed that the county had plowed our road. Usually we're way down the priority list. Maybe they did it so the mail could get through? In any case, I'm grateful.

No, thank all goodness.
Now that the winds and temps have improved, so hopefully power outage is off the possibles list....I can start stressing about clearing snow :gig
It's deep and rather heavy, I cleared about 10-20 feet of the coop path and am already tired and discouraged.
At least the chickens survived the cold snap.
