Okay, so three of my eggs are due to hatch today, and because of previous hatches, I opened them up to see if they were alive. The first one I opened was an early embryo, so he is gone.

The second and third, however, were shrink wrapped. I touched them to see if they were alive, and they were.

I carefully wet a q-tip and wet the shrink-wrapped paper-like -thing (sorry, i don't know what it's called).

Is there anything else I can do in order to save my chicks?

Thanks!

You definitely shouldn't have opened them up. Especially on the day they are due to hatch. That reduces their chance of hatching quite a bit. How big are the holes? Did you go through the air cell? Do you see any veins in the membrane? When I was young long, long ago, and started hatching eggs, I made the same mistakes. Try to sit tight and don't do that again

I'll try to help.

I agree with sallyscrazyfarm after you go into lock down day 18, you should not open the incubator for 5 days. I know it is real hard not to. It is our nature to want to help! If you have to open the incubator (try not to) you can take a spray bottle with warm water and lightly mist the eggs. But only do this as a last resort. Of course we want to save them all!

Thank you for your help.

I just opened them up to see how they were doing since from past experienced have been all but failures, and they were shrink wrapped. I thought this wasn't normal, so I tried to go forward with trying to help them out. But since I opened them up, is there a chance they might die ? i keep wetting the membrane, is this safe? because they are shrink wrapped, and the veins are too thick. Please help me. I am a not-very-experienced hatcher.

Oh yes. It was us that I wanted to see how they were doing since all of the other times I've tried to incubate have all been a failure and I want to see how to prevent them from dying. It is very hard to wait because I have a feeling they might die, and I could've helped them. But I will try next time!

Well, overall, my chick hatched! (:
My mom & I helped him/her get out, and now we are waiting for him/her to get up and get dry.
