I noticed the first pip on an egg under my hen this morning at 8 am. I just went back out to check and there is still the single pip. It’s chirping inside. At what point do I “encourage” the chick out? The other chicks in the brood are now almost 2 days old and I’m afraid she’s going to take off off the eggs. She kind of already is. I know this can be controversial depending on who you ask and I know you take great caution while doing it. So if you respond maybe keep in mind I don’t mind doing controversial things ;)

My egg took about 18 hrs from first pip to hatch it can take up to 24 hrs, don't help for the first 24 hrs, The egg pips to breath, but it is NOT ready to hatch for another 12 hrs or more, it is absorbing and still has many veins. Helping too soon will have an undeveloped belly button. Don't help, talk to your egg though, it likes to peep.
