Helps chickens are flying out of the run.

I have clothesline zig zagged over parts of an open run. I have sheets and odd pieces of fabric flapping in the breeze to keep the overhead predators guessing and to provide shade for my birds.

All of my chickens can easily fly out, if they wanted to. My leghorns are great fliers. They would fly to the 6' post and sit on the fence to let me know they could.

I have two Americuana's that can fly up to the roof of one of my buildings. They do. They walk the roof. They get down on their own. They do it because they can.

I have Bantums and Golden Comets that can (and do) fly up to the rafters and roost. They do it because they can.

I do not clip anyone's wings. (Personal choice.)

I've not lost a bird to flying away. Not even my adoptees. Not even my duckies, who can fly.

*** When your guys fly out, where do they go? Do they fly back in on their own?

it's not about them flying away....a bird flying out of the enclosure is at risk of predation....

I read that if you put a rope abound your fence parallel to it about 6 in higher then the fence then your chickens will not be able to land/perch in top of the fence they just fall back to the ground. I look into it because I did not want to clip wings if possible but we have been luck and our chickens so far are not jumping our fence
