Hemp seed in feed?

Man! That title line caught my ex-hubbies attention and for the first time since I started the never ending chicken project, he was excited!

He was going to be all happy about having to stop by the feed store and pick me up a bag of feed for the flock, and then he read the thread an got all bummed out. Ya'll just buzzkilled him!

I think he was hoping that since we got corn and millett and other odd plants growing around the coop as a result of spilled feed, that he might find sign of something else!

I did have to hear the ,"Hemp make the strongest natural fibers...blah, blah, blah"lecture from him again when I KNOW all he cares about is wacky tabaccy. I dont need any stoned chickens, except maybe the roosters, it would be nice if they would sleep in a little later than 0430...

yes, it is realy too bad that there is all the political hype against hemp. It really is an amazing plant that is very easy to grow and has many, many uses. I guess we can thank the big papper lobby for that one.....

lets all keep in mind that we are talking about hemp not marijuana, hemp contains little to no THC (none in the seeds) hemp is healthy for chickens and people.

Sorry, to tell all of you it is all sterilized and won't germinate. It is sold for cage birds also. It was suppose to have been made illegal so a chemical company could replace it(hemp fiber) to make sythetic clothing and all the big money. HS

* Lol-- o.k., one more time. STERILE = no sprouting and THC is negligable!! "No fun", in other words!! Fiber, proteins and efa's are all still there to be had, however. I buy it at my local independent pet shop.
