Has anyone tried Hemp bedding? Pro's, Con's, price to do a 30-40 square foot coop ?

I use it and like it, but don't have much experience with anything else. It's to expensive unless available locally. I can buy direct from the mfg for $16 a bale, that would sufficiently cover your floor. It's seems to last a long time. The birds like it and I like.

I've read great things about hemp bedding, it would be my number 1 choice if I could find it in my area.

Generally new country organic dealers will order any of their products, and they carry hemp. The price is marked up through NCO, but I'm sure would be cheaper than paying shipping.

I'm lucky that's it's somewhat local. I just drove 2 hours each way and bought enough for a year.

The local thing is funny to me. I see the NCO & the stuff on Amazon is $50+ a 33 lb. bale with shipping. My local feed store started carrying a local hemp farm's organic hemp bedding. I checked it out the other day & it's $140 for 25 lbs. That is a big no from me! Can't see how anyone would buy at that price.

NCO and Old Dominion hemp are like 1/4 mile apart. I stopped at both stores. $16 a 33lb bale at old dominion seemed good. Still more than pine, but mine has lasted a long time. I do have a poop board which helps. Its been about 2 months and the coop still smells clean. If I REALLY wanted hemp, and couldn't pick it up myself, I would buy a pallet and have it freighted to a local freight terminal. I have an unfinished basement, which is ideal for storing stuff like that.
