In the Brooder
My five year old White-cheeked black Spanish has a very large, floppy comb. When she was younger it got a scab on the side, and healed flopped over so it is permanently draped over her face. I have looked at dubbing but it seems to be only for much younger birds? She has a tendency to sit down and peck at the grass in front of her instead of scratching around like her flock mates. No bullying problems observed but she doesn’t seem to enforce the pecking order at all as well. She has her tail down most of the time, and often forgets to tuck her wings back in so they drop down. Sne looks a bit like a sad olive. Any comb solutions? Or behaviour-causing suggestions? None of the other girls do any of this so it makes me a bit concerned.
Photos are from two years ago, pre-permanent-flop. The second image is what her comb is like permanently now. The front bit impairs the vision on her other side.
