Hello! So I have my hen Dior and she is about 9 months old and she was raised in my house, she goes outside during the day but sleeps in my room and chills inside, sense she was a chick. Lately sometimes shes been getting aggressive sometimes n puffing up her feathers and pecking me when I get my hands near her. She has done this behavior when she was broody twice but now she isnt so im not sure why she is like this now. Is it age? or does she just not want to be with me anymore? Maybe it has to do with the fact that shes a wild chicken? ik this dumb but it makes me sad :(

maybe she is doing it because she is broody again. If not, does she have anyone else? Are there any other hens living with her? The minimum chick amount should be 5 and if there is no one else to be around, she might be getting stressed. She might be becoming crabby with you because there is no one else to be annoyed at.

Chickens are flock animals. If you are raising her by herself, you might be confusing her nature. But, I don't treat my chickens as pets, so maybe somebody else would be better able to offer some help. I was always led to believe that chickens were farm animals, and not house pets. So it has never occurred to me to have a chicken in the house.

Dior is a lovely name! As with all animals they are usually just trying to tell you something about themselves. What is the situation when she pecks at you? If it's not food-related, she may be trying to assert a boundary about something that is making her uncomfortable in some way. She could need more room, or a friend, or attention on her terms.

If it's only her, I'm sure its loneliness. :hugs

Yes I have many other chickens who she somtimes hangs out with (not much cuz they are bigger than her) and she is always with a rooster, we have many here, she just comes back inside when it gets dark on her own will, she walks in lol and I put her back outside in the morning when she wake up. so im not sure
