Dear Friends, one of my three hens (Easter egg) who is normally the most friendly, has started squatting in the coop and not interacting with me or her sisters. The behavior change occurred yesterday and continues today. She looks otherwise healthy. When I pet her she doesn't make a sound and simply closes her eyes. I put her in the nesting box and she has been there since. Does this seem normal? None of the birds have layed eggs yet. I'm a worried dad.

cluckysdad welcome to BYC her squatting sounds like
she is getting ready to lay. I'm no expert but it doesn't sound like she's sick to me .
Are her comb and wattles turning red? Maybe a bump will get you some better answers than I have. I suggest keeping an eye on her if you think she is I'll, it doesn't sound like that is the case though, maybe she just moody.

Keep a close eye on her. I have had hens go straight broody even before they have laid an egg, but this is unusual.

Is she eating? Any other signs of her being unwell?
