I have am Icelandic hen that took to staying on her nest last week - after a racoon had gotten the Rooster and all the other hens. When I locked her up she had 13 eggs and was staying on the nest all but one hour a day - which told me she was setting at least for every breed I have ever known before... Well today I went to swap out her feed and water and noticed that there were now 19 eggs... (No, there is no way another hen is laying there.)
Is it possible she is setting, or could she just be staying on the nest for some reason?
I thought it was weird to begin with, but she just stayed on the nest so I assumed setting... Anyone have any ideas... I got an incubator so that I could salvage them if needed.
Thanks
