My Minorca hen, Danielle, is not acting like herself. She's usually the most assertive of my girls and very active. Today out of nowhere she started refusing her usual treats. When we let them into the yard she ran with the others but didn't really scratch at the dirt like normal. She was pecking and eating though. Outwardly she appeared normal, just doesn't seem right. She's only about 14 months old. I recently lost another hen so Im trying to do everything I can for her before something else happens. She's one of my favorites.

She doesn't really lookblike a minorca, but perhaps she is a New Hampshire. Minorcas are black with large white earlobes. She might benefit from worming with Valbazen or SafeGuard liquid goat wormer. Check her crop to make sure it empties by morning, and look at her droppings for any diarrhea. Offer her some scrambled egg, and make sure that she is drinking well.
