My hen's comb and waddle is really pale but she is eating and drinking but she has good days and also bad days where she doesn't want to do anything. Is there something I could do to make her feel better?

Have you checked her for mites and lice? I would check and see.

Could she also be molting? My chickens comb turn pale pink when they molt, usually at this time of year.

I don't think she is molting. She is normally molts in the spring time so i don't think she should be molting. What should I look for if she has mites and lice? Plus she doesn't really have much energy. All she would do is stand around and sleep or lay in a hen box and sleep. I also have seen her eat.

Hello autumnbee17,

How old is your hen?
Is she laying?
Is she pooping OK? Are her poops loose or firm?
You say she is eating and drinking.
Have you noticed any nasal discharge or sneezing?

As, ThenNotSoChickenMaster said, have you checked her for mites?

Mites are external parasites that live off your chicken's blood. You should check the perches for any blood trails, too. These would be from ticks that are hiding in the coop. At night they come out to feed on the blood of your chickens, too.

Mites and tick infestation will make the chicken anemic and weak. Pale comb and wattles can be a symptom of this along with lethargy.

Here is a link to help you.

Start by checking for mites.

While your checking for mites, also check her crop. Check it first thing in the morning. How does it feel? It should be empty.

Then, you'll have more clues as to what is making your little girl feel poorly.

God Bless! :)

Thank you for the advise but sadly my hen had passed away today in the morning. She was about 2 years old and was pooping a green yellow liquid (sometimes hard) content. She was laying but all of a sudden she stopped for no reason, but she would go to the hen boxes. She was not sneezing or anything. All she did was stand and sleep or slowly walk.
