Hi All, This might be a little off topic, but I hope you'll let this post remain for few days.

I just read in our local paper about a large CSA in Wellington CO that is having financial troubles and will be hosting hen adoptions on Fri and Sat, Jan 18th & 19.

This is a sad story, sounds like his investors are more interested in his land than his operation. He had to sell 7000 of his birds to local restaurants and had to euthanize another 5000, just to be able to feed the remainder of his flock. It's heart breaking to watch him tell his story, but he wasn't about to let his animals starve. They are hosting this hen adoption because they cannot afford feed.

You can read more about the adoption here: http://www.grantfarms.com/

You can also make contributions for feed at Ranchway Feeds in Ft. Collins. Use the 'Six Dog' account.

The family *really* wants to find good homes for these hens.!!!

I am not connected in any way to Grant Farms or the adoption. I just can't bear the thought of sweet productive hens being put down.

cheers,

John
