Hen attacked by dog, advice on care needed

She weighs about 3 lbs, I don’t have a scale.

So I started Daisy on penicillin g yesterday. Her back wound is larger than I thought. Cleaned, liberally applied neosporin. She is drinking water with nutridrench, eating eggs, some feed, black soldier fly larvae and gave her a little yogurt which she enjoyed. She’s pooping, a little loose but shes been through a lot. Walks around, comb is bright red and she preens herself. I hope she’ll lay an egg soon. Here’s a picture of her looking in the mirror.

The last thing you want is the wound drying out.

I'm confused about this, care to say why? If I had a wound and kept it wet, I believe it would heal slower than if left to heal naturally.
