Hi,
The chicks and chicken/rooster were raised in a coop together with no run. We got them just over two weeks ago. The chicks are now approx 10 weeks old.
They are now in a larger coop with access to a closed in open area. They were enclosed in the coop for 2 weeks in order to encourage them to enter coop in the evening. Still not working.... but that's on a different thread.
The chicken pecks at the chicks a lot (the rooster doesn't). one of the chicks died today and at least two others have what we think are pecking injuries see attached photo. They seem ok at the moment - it is less problematic when they are outside. We only realised they had been injured today.
I am thinking of either making them a panic area in the coop - by maybe blocking off most of one of the nesting boxes and/or making a safe area outside where they can also sleep at night.
What do I do about the injuries - should we be going to the vet tomorrow? Any other advice or ideas that we should try? As newbies, we need help!
Thanks in advance,
Adam
