Hen bonnets?

Might want to isolate him for a month or so....he's just a randy young thing...
hopefully he'll learn some manners, becauase a cocerkel that pulls all feathers off the back of a hens head could be just shy of scalping one of them.

Why does isolating him for a month make a difference? Wouldn't isolating her until she heals up give him time to know the others and spread the love a bit?

I do have another coop. I suppose he deserves it more than she does! Lol

I want to knit or crochet one so bad, but I don't have the time... I thin it'd be so funny at least just to get pictures of one on one of my hens

We'll I tried to make a sun bonnet. She wouldn't have it! Lol I also wonder abou Making a saddle with a Dracula like collar. Maybe would protect her head? Or just give him a handle!

OK, he's been incarcerated. I feel pretty bad for him. Elmyras head looks worse today though so needed to be done. As it goes his digs are pretty good for the big house.. (well, it's actually the little house lol)

Don't give into his whining, pacing, rage at being denied full access to the girls he abused...just say 'HA! see what you get you little horndog!'.
I had to isolate a rogue cockerel about 3 months into my chicken endeavor, he wasn't happy in the coop partition...but everyone else was much happier.
He lived there 3-4 months over winter until I learned to harvest.

Actually, my husband is the one that's really struggling with this. Lol. Every time Kellogg crows from within his lonely coop my DH says "aw, poor guy, we should put them in their run and let him out"

"no way! This is his fault, not Elmyras! " lol

The hens seem worried about him too hanging around under his coop most the day.
