I have a Barred Rock Hen. Approximately 8 months old. Came home to find her lying in the Run. She can't get up but otherwise seems healthy and happy. Eyes are bright she's eating and drinking whatever I put in front of her. Left leg seems to be lame and her foot is curled up. I can straighten it and she can push against me but she cannot stand up. She just rolls over to the side. Any ideas?

Mareks is a viral form of cancer that causes tumors that pushes on nerves which causes paralysis, especially in the leg. The first and sometimes only sign is they can't walk. If it's Mareks your bird won't improve with time and will get worse. If it's an injury, your bird should slowly improve, so in the next week or two you should know which way it's going.

Update from this morning. Went out to the garage she was perky and awake but still not standing up. She laid an egg. I gave her some food and went into the house. Couple hours later I came back to switch out her food for water and she had laid another soft Broken Egg. Think maybe she had one stuck?

I'm afraid she's not going to make it. She spilled her water on herself tonight them manage to pull herself onto the concrete floor. She was wet cold and shaking when I found her. I wrapped her in towels and bedded her down but she doesn't look good. I hate it
