1) What type of bird , age and weight (does the chicken seem or feel lighter or thinner than the others.) Wyandotte, less than a year old. Weight feels normal.
2) What is the behavior, exactly. She’s sitting on her hocks, kind of leaned to one side. One wing away from her body. She ate a little bit this morning.
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? Last night when putting them away she was fine.
4) Are other birds exhibiting the same symptoms? No
5) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma. No
6) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation. I have no idea.
7) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all. She ate some layer pellets and scratch this morning
8) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? A tad runny, a little green tinted and looks like tiny lumps in it.
9) What has been the treatment you have administered so far? Holding her on my lap trying to keep roo away
10 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet? Vet only if absolutely necessary
11) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.
12) Describe the housing/bedding in use a house on wheels my husband built. We use pine shavings for bedding.
She is not listless. She’s very alert and very scared. Every so often she will flick her tail. I used a gloved finger to check for egg bound, I do not feel an egg. (Doesn’t mean there isn’t one there, I didn’t dig too much it wasn’t comfortable for her at all). I’m not sure what’s dried to her bum but I’m gonna assume it’s runny poo?
