Hen chewed up by possum - Bag Balm?

We have possum problems now for a while, as I said we set a trap most nights and it is not uncommon for us to catch one possum a week. We caught 3 in the last two weeks. good luck with your problem. We use a med. size hav-a-hart trap with left overs from evening meal. They usually work well.

ETA: We live in the middle of the city.

Thanks, everyone - we've spent a lot of time locking down all our coops and runs so that nothing can ever get in, just for a door to be left open a bit past dark and this to happen... this summer we had a whole quartet of raccoons breaking into one of the runs nightly through the CEILING to feast on chicken food, luckily not the chickens themselves, and we had the whole thing re-roofed to stop it. I've been forgiving with having possums around up until this point, but no longer, I guess! Unfortunate that this is what it took to learn that lesson. ): Thank you for the condolences.

I know the feeling, I lost birds the first time I had chickens to predators a couple of times. This time around I have my coop on brick to prevent critters digging under. Within a metal fenced area with in a backyard area also fenced. If I could afford it I would have a Chicken Coop made out of serious materials, electric fencing, internal monitoring and more... oh yeah I have thought hard on how to protect my birds... I have improved the coops within my budget but if I had the cash... I would probably be out there welding a coop. The next coop I do plan to build from scratch... my current two are kits so not as strong as I would like but I got them cheap and I could build easily and compair and try out things on them.

Hugs and there are some folks with great advice here on dealing with critters...
