So I have an unusual situation. I have a 2 year old Araucana hen that I removed chicks from last week, and now she is trying to crow. She was a first time mom and it did not go well. She was very neglectful; just kind of acted like her babies weren't there. She'd step on them and over them, and occasionally pecked at them if they got close to her while she was eating. So I gave those chicks to another broody hen in that coop, and removed the bad mother and put her in a cage in the barn. That was last Thursday. For the past couple days she has made odd, loud sounds that mimic a crow. There is a rooster in the barn next to her - the same rooster that was in with her and the other broody (I removed him right before the chicks hatched since he had never been around chicks before). There's also 5 other roosters crowing all around the property.

Is this just her hormones trying to reset? I have a lady coming from two states away for her this weekend, and really need to get this figured out! Has anyone else experienced this?

Interesting. She might just be trying to figure out her new place in the flock.

You know that little dance and feather fluff roosters do to hens? Well, I' have this one hen that's done that to other hens. That's as close to bizarre behavior as I've experienced.
