Well, I have an 8-year-old hen that has crowed very intermittently in the past. The past few months, however, she has proceeded to hop into a window sill EVERY morning and crow like a rooster! Has anyone else experienced such a thing??? We are not permitted to have roos, and I am afraid we are going to be reported. -will be interesting to attempt to explain that it is in fact a hen crowing, not a roo. :barnie

She is my most dominant hen. She is the boss! I have a feeder out at all times inside the 8 x 12 coop, so I don't think she is hungry. They eat as they please throughout the day. (She actually finds "good forage food" out in the lawn for the rest of the flock, and will chirp to attract their attention to it kind of like a roo.) She is an excellent layer (and is the gal in my pic). I am just perplexed. I don't really want to dispatch with her, but it is really getting worrisome due to city ordinance.

WOW that she is still laying!
Mine stopped laying a few months before the crowing started.
I hope it is a temporary thing with yours.

Just throwing this out there, but is there anyway you can block the window sill so she can't get up there to crow?
There are three more window sills, if I block that one. (We have four large windows that are all open now due to the heat - high of 89 today). -thinking on it, though.
