I apologize for making my 6th article on the same hen, but I just want to try to find a correct diagnosis for my hen. I have a 3 year old red sex link hen who’s been acting strange this whole year. Her health is declining and I might euthanize her if she keeps getting worse. Here’s her symptoms I’ve noticed in order throughout the year:
Weight loss
Inactivity
Delayed reactions
Change in posture; tucked in neck and puffed out feathers, back is slanted upright like a penguin and tail feathers are faced to the ground
Closing eyes often
Droppings appear to be more fluid and some did stick to her butt
Sleeping standing
Crop is never full
Seeks to roost in isolation
Sleeping on the ground in the day
Cannot roost without assistance or jump
Standing in one place for hours
Any help? I don’t know the longevity of her having internal laying or egg binding for this long without quickly dying because she’s been living for months since she’s acted different. Could it just be cancer? I can’t find any external evidence for it, though. I’ve done hours of research and I can’t place my finger on what’s killing her. She’s my favorite hen.
