Hen died suddenly after a few hours of looking unwell - weird organ issues - *graphic pics*

So, after many days of attempting to make contact with the state veterinary laboratory, I finally got ahold of them, and they said they don't accept photos/dead birds, and that I should contact the university, so I called and left a message. They didn't answer my email 2 weeks ago, so hopefully I can get in touch with them somehow! The suspense continues....

What state are you in?
For the future...they don't usually accept frozen birds.
Next time just refrigerate it.

Hawaii. That's good to know :( It had been dead for 2 days when it suddenly struck me that I should preserve it, so that was altogether a fail, but I was trying to minimize smell by freezing it. They weren't open to testing for anything besides avian influenza at any rate, unless I had a specially-prepared tissue slide to give them.

Yes.

Also called the agriculture outreach branch of the university--they couldn't help me. I'll try the local agriculture group to see if they have any ideas about where/how to send a dead bird or tissue sample, and I'll try contacting the main university directly. It would be helpful to know in case I have any other sudden deaths like this one.
